I've been a fish farmer for over 25 years so I know what I'm doing. I have bought, sold, used and installed all types of freshwater and saltwater aquariums. So please don't think for a second that this is user error. This heater was immersed in water for the entire 3 minutes of its life, I saw the bottom coils start to glow orange and suddenly everything went dark and the heater died. The cord was also criminally short, barely reaching the outlet of the 55G tank. Bottom line, this is part of the $#! +, and even if it didn't fail immediately, it would be unsuitable for long-term reliability and functionality. It's cheap for a reason!
