The blade that came with the Olfa cutter dulled quickly, perhaps partly because I didn't know how to use it. First, I decided I wasn't going to hunt for a well-known brand name substitute; I've had great luck in the past with generic products that are at least as good as the more expensive versions. Not this time. New blades from other manufacturers didn't really improve my cutting experience compared to Olfa's dull blade, although I tried to convince myself otherwise. When I gave up and bought an Olfa replacement, the haircut was finally lighter and sturdier. This is one of those cases where a brand name was worth its extra money.
