According to the description, the built-in remote control has a microphone that allows you to skip tracks and answer calls, as well as change the volume. However, you cannot control the volume with the built-in remote control. There is no getting around this, including setting up a smart key app. This was ultimately disappointing because my main desire was to be able to control the volume in my next pair of headphones, even if they didn't have added bass. But everything else is a quality pair with extra bass and flat wire.
