I bought this 200 light kit with a flashing controller because it seemed like a very good buy for the money. I use it in a simulated fountain to create the effect of a shimmering stream. But all flashing modes of these lights have insanely weird and wild patterns, and most modes are constantly changing flashing patterns. And all flashing modes except one are very wild and bizarre. The one that isn't really wild but rather slow like molasses so the lights don't really flicker are they or 7 modes would be a good even traditional beautiful sparkling mode? I was planning on using this array for the Christmas lights after the project was disassembled. But when I do, I get pretty stuck using the always-on mode with no flickering, because I find all those "disco effects" too wild for a Christmas tree or Christmas theme of any kind. And very slow is very unattractive. But I need them now, today, so I'm stuck on someone's stupid idea of making the Christmas lights look more like fireworks on New Year's Eve than beautiful Christmas lights!
