I wanted something different as many stores didn't have such a ring for my lip. First I put it on, everything was fine, I carefully disinfected the jewelry, made sure my hand was clean. All the right ways to insert a new decoration. About an hour later my lip was swollen and really sore and itchy like crazy. I'm allergic to nickel so thought maybe it was a stainless steel plated nickel contrary to what the description says. I took it out and inserted a 10" prong from my lip when I first pierced it (about 10 months since I got it so it should have fully healed) to get the swelling to stop. After about a week the swelling was gone. below and I wanted to see if it was because a circle and not the lip plug was the problem so I put it back in, it was a little swollen and a little itchy. I kept it for about three days. the swelling got worse over those three days, it wasn't even a little noticeable to me when i couldn't hold anything in my mouth and the itching got a lot worse which means there must be nickel in the jewelry somewhere i'm very hyper sensitive to nickel and hypoallergenic jewelry never tell the truth. So I asked my sister to try them as she has a 16 gauge piercing and is hypersensitive I thought maybe I'm doing something wrong. Same thing happened to her, swelling, itching and There were 3 different spots on her body then one on my lip and her piercing is 4 years old. ears old! Definitely do not recommend this product for those who are very sensitive to jewelry. I trusted the reviews as I wanted a 16 gauge lip ring but was very disappointed.
