Description of Monoprice Networking USB Print Server

This palm sized 1-port USB 2.0 Print Server allows any networked computer to share a USB printer. Provides users with an auto-sensing Ethernet port that works with either 10Base-T or 100Base-T networks. This eliminates the need to place the printer right next to the computer. Works with Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 only.

Good print server for the price

This product works on multiple networks but if you have different networks where multicast is not possible then you have to rely on the static IP address of this device can all Set up your clients. You just need to add the LPR function from your Win7 OS and adjust the number of LPR bytes. Do not use PCL6 drivers with this product as it will significantly slow down print jobs. Overall setup was fairly basic and small enough to be tucked away behind a desk or desk and uses little power. I gave it

Completely unusable

Negative reviews are too good. I ignored them and bought them anyway. After playing around with it for an hour, I was able to log into a small admin webpage. It includes a "compatibility page" that lists all supported printers. Not only does this page not list many printers, it also lists a timestamp of .2008. So. If your printer was made within the last 10 years, it probably won't work with this one. I have a Samsung M2020 laser printer. When it's connected I can see it on my network, but…

Good idea if it worked.

That's a great idea and if it works, great. I managed this through a server so all computers in the office have access to the printer. I could get the server to spool it and then test each computer to see if it could print and they did. The next day I could not print from any computer. To make it work I need to physically connect the printer to the server and then reconnect it via the USB server once I can print directly to it. At the time it seemed to work. After restarting the server, I could

It would be nice to have a list of compatible printers on hand

If you can find a list of compatible printers for this device, please check before purchasing. If you have a Canon MX 490 series printer, this device will not work. I gave 2 stars instead of 5 not for the sellers being awesome but because of the manufacturer of this device. Go to the manufacturer's website and see the list of compatible printers. If it is not on this list, this device will not work.

Works great with Windows 10 and the HP Deskjet 1112 printer.

Works great with Windows 10 and the HP Deskjet 1112 printer. Installed in minutes with the software provided on CD and with the one recommended in the first parts of LPR method the instructions. Unlike many PC add-ons, the manual is very well done, but in small print. I recommend using the manual file on the CD. I haven't tried the print server method because the LPR method works very well. I ran the installer and the printer showed up right away in Windows 10 Printer Devices. I have three…

Works perfectly with single function printers

Sometimes setup is easy, sometimes not, especially if you plan to use multifunction printers. I've found that after setting the IP address, it's easier to set it up as a network printer manually without using the software that came with it. When used with a single function printer like an HP Deskjet or Laserjet, it always works perfectly.

Didn't work for me (software developer)

I bought to try connecting my HP LaserJet 1320 to a Windows 10 PC. It was very easy to set up - just plug it in and it powers on and uses DHCP to assign itself an IP address. The web interface is minimal. The included software is great for setting up the printer and is much easier to use than setting up LPR printers manually in Windows 10. But when I printed something, nothing came out of the printer. The lights on the printer weren't blinking, which means it wasn't even receiving any data. The

Good inexpensive print server for an old laser printer

Works great with my Samsung ML-1450.13 laser printer. As other reviewers have pointed out, I used the IP method, not the software that came with it - I don't want to install any software if I can help. Works with Windows 7 and 10. My Mac also recognizes the printer, but the latest version of Sierra OS doesn't have drivers for my old printer (I need to keep digging for the right drivers), so it prints all sorts of weird characters. It replaces an old Linksys switch with a print server that dies…
