On Arrival - Networking Products

I plugged this into the network switch my computer is plugged into. I installed the software but it couldn't find the device. Then I checked my router and it didn't show the device on the network. Then I checked the switch and of course the port that this device was plugged into did not light up. I tried another network cable but still no connection. I've arranged a return/exchange, let's see if the next one works.

Almost perfect for print servers

I haven't had much success with other print servers, I've tried a few and they worked for a while and then stopped. This makes a very stable impression. I used it for DYMO 4XL. After installing the printer driver. You plug in the power, connect the cable from the router and the USB port from the printer, and you're good to go. you need the last one SX Virtual Link software. This allows your computer to think the printer is directly connected to your printer via USB, even when it's online. It is

Non-plug-n-play for computers and accessories

The computer from which you want to access devices connected to the DS-510 must be running the Silex software. You can follow directions all day and not get where you need to be. You should do a Google search and find a link to the Silex website with the installation files you need. Too bad the instructions are useless. However, once you figure it out, the device is wonderful. I even figured out that I could use an old powered USB hub (an old one doesn't work, another one works) and plug…

Works with virtual USB audio!

EDIT: After 11 months the device stopped working with SX Virtual Link. Nothing has changed for me. The web configuration page is fine, I can ping it, I can manually change its IP address, I can reflash its firmware. I just can't use this thing on my local computers anymore. No support. Look elsewhere for a similar but more robust solution. I needed a device to handle both virtual USB audio and standard virtual COM ports, and unlike several more expensive options, this one worked as advertised…

Works great with Fujitsu Scansnap S1500 and ix500 desktop scanners

As the name suggests, the DS-510 works flawlessly with both of these models in the ScanSnap line of scanners. I had a false alarm the first time I connected a DS-510 ethernet cable to my VoIP phone's "PC" port (which was used to connect a PC to the phone's secondary ethernet port) and the scanning was agonizing was slow (30 seconds or more to scan). a black and white page). This problem disappeared after the DS-510 was plugged directly into a wall outlet. SILEX PROPOSAL: Could you put a setting

Not compatible with Mac OS 11

Not compatible with Mac OS 11. I wish it was mentioned in the product information. I wouldn't buy it, spent an hour rewiring my printer case and then finally found it wasn't compatible after trying to install the software. Silex, be honest about your product in your product details. For example, customers don't have to go through all product questions and answers to find a major incompatibility. BRAND NEW MAC! You're wasting your customers' time. "Mojave OS 10.14 and earlier" is not good…

Good for computers and accessories

Good for connecting an external USB drive to my network. You can only connect one device to it at a time, but that works for my situation. I thought you would have to use some software to connect, but that's not the case. The software basically lets you connect to a drive with a single click, and then you're connected all the time as long as you're on the wireless network.

Pros
  • Dope
Cons
  • Slightly dented

More trouble than good.

DS-510 is as imperfect as the manufacturer's support and documentation. After speaking to them before purchasing, I was confident that the DS-510 would work with a high-volume document scanner. Even though the DS-510 is connected to a gigabit network and has the latest firmware installed, it intermittently and repeatedly pauses data transfer for 30 seconds. When scanning a large number of documents, this significantly increases job turnaround time compared to simply using a scanner connected…

Works great as a USB to Ethernet network converter.

I had a very old USB device for network servers/ethernet adapters called AnyWhere USB. This is a fabulous replacement. It was easy to install, came with good software (you need to download it) and setup. So unless you're a techie you might need a friend's help to set it up, but it's worth it. It had 1 feature/quirk that wasn't written down as far as I could tell, but once you know you'll love it. The quirky feature is that after you use the connected USB device from your networked computer, it…
