DS-510 is as imperfect as the manufacturer's support and documentation. After speaking to them before purchasing, I was confident that the DS-510 would work with a high-volume document scanner. Even though the DS-510 is connected to a gigabit network and has the latest firmware installed, it intermittently and repeatedly pauses data transfer for 30 seconds. When scanning a large number of documents, this significantly increases job turnaround time compared to simply using a scanner connected directly to a computer via USB. When accessing the embedded DS-510 web server, you cannot manually configure the device to operate at 1Gbps. Instead it should be set to automatic and then you should confirm on the status page that it's running at 1 Gbps. Firmware updates can only be performed from Windows. Despite what you see on their website or hear when you call them, Silex no longer offers phone support. Also, despite what their product documentation states, they do not make the software available for download on their US website. They must use their European website to download the software required to use their devices or to update the firmware. This product is a waste of time and money.
