Not so many problems.

I know some people had trouble installing this print server but in my case it was easy. So I thought I'd give you some advice: 1. Before purchasing a print server, call Linksys to see if your printer is compatible with the product. In my case it was my brand new Epson Stylus C82 (luckily!).2. Install the printer drive and its utility on all computers before attempting to install the print server.3. Follow the Linksys instructions. Sometimes I have a problem with not reading instructions. This…

Poor documentation in print servers

I tried installing the print server according to the instructions provided. When I tried to add a PCMCIA card, I got no readings. I called Linksys support. After going through the screening process twice, I finally contacted a support specialist. This process took about 20 minutes. Then I had to repeat the whole process a third time because I couldn't understand the technique because of the heavy accent. I could understand the second technician I spoke to. This technician gave me instructions…

Works with Kinks: Computers and Accessories

There have been a number of reports of this not working. Just wanted to say this has worked on two of my printers. Laser Epson 870 and Samsung 1710. But it's not perfect. I seem to have a problem with the power on sequence. I used to turn on the printer/server at the same time. It will not initialize properly if it is enabled at the same time. I didn't calculate the power-on sequence, but it seems that the printer needs to be powered on and initialized first. (Could also be the other way…

Some issues but deserved.

I got the HP DeskJet 5550 up and running in 1 hour. The main problem I had was trying to install the printer driver using the Linksys software. When I went as far as setting the port to the system and then running the HP driver install with the port created for the printer, it worked.

  • Easy to read control panel

  • Long delivery time

False advertising of networking products

Linksys says it's a USB print server. Maybe that. But neither their literature nor anything on their website tells you that this won't work with some printers. And not some weird brand. Canon printer. I have a Canon F80 that works great with a direct USB connection. But after 30 minutes with tech support, the tech decides to ask what kind of printer I have. Then it says the USB print server is not working with my printer according to their documentation. He then tells me I can BUY another WPS11

Compatibility issues

I won't be giving up on Linksys products, I have several and am happy with what I've been able to keep. In this case, however, I was unable to get the print server to work with my Lexmark X73 color printer/scanner. The system just wouldn't recognize it. I called tech support and they were very quick to say they thought it was just not a supported printer. I said in their review that they said it is compatible with almost all printers. I got the answer that this obviously means it is not…

I should have listened to other comments!

As many have said, this product is not your standard plug and play and Linksys support sucks. It seems they can answer a simple question like "Is this print server compatible with the Epson CX5200?" but apparently they can't. I've spent many hours and many frustrations trying to get this to work with no success. I think the bottom line is don't try to use the print server on a combo printer. I'm sending mine back and think I'll stick with the standard printer connection. If I have to give…

The product is great, the new printers are not.

When you buy a "multifunction” printer, all you have to do is connect it directly to a PC (Windows). I bought a PPS1UW printer and an HP 7550 color printer on the same day. I ran into the exact same issues that others have commented, but I know whose fault it is. hp hp hp How can you create a printer that requires "special drivers" to print? What's wrong with plain old PostScript? What's wrong with standards? Yes, I ended up speaking to HP and Linksys tech support and encountered a "sorry, this
