A good product. WPA and client support is weak

Overall it's *good*. It works well from the printer side and supports my HP 5510 with very little custom configuration. (Tip: Make sure you download the latest printer driver from the manufacturer, otherwise the "wizard" will ask you for it at the wrong time. Printing and scanning work fine and it connects easily to my XP and Vista computers Do I also have to say that "the "concept" of what this product does is great - I no longer need to keep my computer powered on as a print server. Since I…

DPR 1260 SUCKS: Computers and Accessories

I have a small office with five networked computers; I'm also a dedicated D-Link user with a significant investment in D-Link gear. I decided to purchase the DRP-1260 to network with Brother laser printers after reading reviews both on Revain and elsewhere. B. be a D-Link DPR 1260. It was easy to set up if you followed the instructions, but after a month one of our computers, which sometimes uses an external VPN network, cloned the DPR 1260 as an exchange server to fix the main i/p address…

at least as far as I could tell

I just copy 1 more run (my experience too) I could never get this device to work. According to the documentation, pressing the reset button should reset the device's IP address to 192.168.0.10. That didn't happen. Some google searches revealed that firmware 1.21 has a bug that sometimes resets the IP address to the rather odd 169.254.29.137. This didn't happen either. Well, at least as far as I could tell. Whether using Windows or Linux, using a switch, router or directly from a PC, I've never…

*UPDATE* Just wanted to mention that I recently bought a new Windows Vista laptop. Printing prints multiple pages, even if you only need one copy. The solution was to disable "buffering" in the printer properties. Works great! *UPDATE* I have a printer that is not listed in the compatibility chart (epson CX4200) so I was a bit worried about how it would work with this server. It came with software, but I try to use the unit without downloading its software, just with Windows and getting better,

Sturdy, reliable block

I like this block. I bought it over 1 1/2 years ago and it still works 24/7/365. As far as I remember, setting up the device wasn't that difficult. I connected the device directly to my computer via Ethernet to set up the device for the first time. After that, sailing on those WiFi waves was smooth. The web interface that D-Link uses is a familiar one that I have used on other D-Link products. I am using this device to provide wireless printing service to two USB printers. Samsung CLP-315 Color

  • High marks for support and durability from testers

I got this to work with Win7 x64 and Dymo LabelWriter

Well as the name suggests I got this print server to work with my Dymo LabelWriter 450 TwinTurbo printer - so I'm actually quite happy with it. It also works well with WPA2 security on my network. The setup was a bit fiddly, so I thought I'd quickly go through some of the steps I had to go through. None of D-Link's automatic configuration tools work with the x64 version of Windows 7, so stay away from this product unless you're familiar with manually configuring network devices. latest…

Works well, a bit tricky to set up

UPDATE - January 15, 2011 I've been using this wireless print server for a while and it's only given me problems 2-3 times. Every time I unplug the power cord, wait 30 seconds and then plug it back in. He then revives and the seal is restored. Only once did I have to unplug and plug the printer's USB cable back in to turn the printer back on (use the same port or expect problems). Still 5 stars after all this time. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I have to say I love the DPR-1260. It definitely works better…

SO FAR, SO GOOD! on networking products

I ordered this unit yesterday and received it overnight via Revain Prime (great cost saving service if you order as much from Revain as I do). I read many reviews, especially those with technical notes. To those who made it, thank you! Your efforts were not in vain. First thing I know without even reading manuals is that you should never set up a wireless device wirelessly. Easy enough to remember, but luckily it's right at the beginning of the guide. Take the time to connect with an Ethernet…

Doesn't support WPA

As another reviewer noted, this print server doesn't support WPA encryption (which I use). Every time I tried to set up a wireless network using WPA, the DPR (expectedly) restarted, but then I couldn't connect. And the wireless network configuration screens didn't match those in the manual. Since my printers are currently located next to a wireless router and an Ethernet cable is already routed between the router and the DPR for setup, I decided to leave the wired connection as is. It worked…
