Review on D-Link DPR-1260 RangeBooster G Multifunction Print Server: Boost Your Range and Printing Efficiency by Jack Enhanced

Works well, a bit tricky to set up

UPDATE - January 15, 2011 I've been using this wireless print server for a while and it's only given me problems 2-3 times. Every time I unplug the power cord, wait 30 seconds and then plug it back in. He then revives and the seal is restored. Only once did I have to unplug and plug the printer's USB cable back in to turn the printer back on (use the same port or expect problems). Still 5 stars after all this time. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I have to say I love the DPR-1260. It definitely works better than the old Netgear print server I had years ago. It works great with my Samsung ML-2510 laser printer, although it's not on the printer compatibility list. desktop running Vista and they all work great together). While it's not advanced math to set up, it can be a bit tricky if you're not used to the internet. If you don't know how to set a static IP address on your router, you may find yourself learning (or frustrating) depending on how you see things. I accidentally "lost" the user management module/screen for DPR. -1260 when I changed the IP to a static address. The problem was then fixed by entering a new IP address in my browser and it reappeared. I installed it and it's been running for over a month now with no problems. Keys to a successful installation process: 1. Read the instructions and then read them again. They are not as clear as they could be.2. Connect the DPR-1260 to the ROUTER with an Ethernet cable for setup.3. Install the appropriate printer driver on all computers that will print to the DPR-1260, even if they have been previously installed. Hope this helps someone. Much luck.
