Reliable product, mediocre documentation

I bought one and tried it on 4 different printers. Brother HL1040, HP Deskjet 990Cxi, Ricoh AP204 and HP Deskjet 820C. All of them worked except 820C. I suspect that the age of the printer is the cause of the problem, but I'm not sure. Either way, it was pretty easy to set up and use. It took me a while to experiment to figure out what the options were, but I got it up and running in about 10 minutes with a basic setup. Not bad considering it's the first print server I've ever installed…

It doesn't get much easier than that.

This print server took less than 10 minutes to install and works great. The whole process consists of only 4 steps: 1. Connect the print server to your network.2. Connect the printer to the print server and turn on the printer.3. Connect the power cord to the print server.4. Install the program on your computer. It worked for me out of the box. It recognized my Epson Stylus Color 600 printer right away and it was very easy to set it up to print on my computer. I've made some changes to the…

Independent Print Server

Linksys EPSX3 EtherFast 10/100 PrintServer3 is used to make your printer independent from 10BaseT and 100Mbps networks. Connect the printer/printer cable to the Linksys EPSX3 EtherFast 10/100 PrintServer3 and the network cable to the RJ-45 port. As for the software, you need to install the print server driver on each PC that needs to use it. You must also select the SC811326_p1 print server port and install the printer driver on each computer. Don't forget to select the "LOCAL" printer port as…

Network nightmare

My local network is full of Linux. I bought epsx3 because I have three printers that I want to share. This device was a nightmare. I can't even get XP to notice it's online. I contacted Linksys Technical Support and they showed no understanding of my issues. A Windows 98 PC can print to one printer attached to the device, but not to another. I even uninstalled the device software from all machines and reinstalled the software and device. Vain. I'm very disappointed as other Linksys network…

Linksys I don't know

I've noticed that XP customers are having a lot of issues with this product. I was able to find out exactly what was going on with these products and provide that information to Linksys for free. I'm a computer security consultant and I usually get paid a lot for helping companies solve problems. The Linksys EPSX3 and EFSP42 print servers are similar in design and were developed before the release of Windows XP. Linksys hadn't updated the BIOS in years, so I wasn't surprised that their products

Good option to extend the life of any old reliable printer

I bought a used Linksys EPSX3 print server to be able to network my old HP Deskjet 722c to my new MacBook Pro as Macs don't have parallel ports. I have networking experience so this was a fairly easy task. I wouldn't buy a non-networked printer these days, or plan to buy a regular printer and then connect it to the network through a print server. However, if you can get a free or relatively cheap good printer and get that print server cheap, it's certainly a worthwhile combination if you know…

Really good on print servers

I've been using the old version (flat box) for over two years and it works perfectly. Installing this two year old software was easy, but I'm sure some will find it a problem. It took some knowledge, but it worked. I upgraded from Win98 to Win2K and then to WinXP and had to reinstall the software each time so it was easier. The customer service was needed once and was excellent: the representative was knowledgeable and patient. I have a Linksys wired router and switch and would wholeheartedly…

linksys EPSX3 is good for print servers

Hardware installation was easy and connected to my network with no problems. Installing the software and setting up the server can be a bit tricky if you don't have any knowledge of networks and how to use IP addresses and DHCP servers and what they do. You must read the instructions carefully to get all the hidden items. I just installed the driver on all my windows machines and the print server manager on one machine as instructed. If you are using DHCP to issue an IP address, the print…
