Review on D-Link DPR-1260 RangeBooster G Multifunction Print Server: Boost Your Range and Printing Efficiency by Ted Slaughter

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Can't believe all the negative reviews! That's why I give it five stars!

*UPDATE* Just wanted to mention that I recently bought a new Windows Vista laptop. Printing prints multiple pages, even if you only need one copy. The solution was to disable "buffering" in the printer properties. Works great! *UPDATE* I have a printer that is not listed in the compatibility chart (epson CX4200) so I was a bit worried about how it would work with this server. It came with software, but I try to use the unit without downloading its software, just with Windows and getting better, and the DPR-1260 is no exception! Of course, I'm using this as a WIRED server, not wireless (highly recommended). As indicated in the quick start guide, configure a network interface card (NIC) or a WLAN card with an IP address in the same range as the server. Went to the server and changed the IP address to match the range of my existing network (using an old Linksys WiFi router) and connected it to the Linksys router. Plug in the printer, log in to the server, and set it up. I updated the firmware to the latest version which added compatibility to my printer. The server recognized the printer and installed the drivers and it works like clockwork! Not only that, but the scanning feature works great, although it uses a server interface that also works well (for scanning only). My operating system is the WinXP home version.
