This water rocket is definitely one of the coolest (age appropriate) boys toys I have ever had have seen for a long time. My 8 year old son loves it and should keep him (and me of course!) entertained for years to come! requires no start-up and maintenance costs since you only use refillable elements; Works with most standard size bottle threads, a little water and a little elbow grease to pump up a bike tire pump. and very very fast if done right!. So be careful when launching with enough space not to land on the neighbor's house or car (both were on the first 4 launches lol). Literally barely visible in the sky, the rocket stayed in the air for about 10 to 20 seconds before returning to the ground. Find the correct water to air ratio for the bottle and cap tightly for a high launch, add more water to the ratio or loosen the seal on the cork to stay closer to the bottom when launching. The kit contains all the necessary components, except for the bike pump, to be ready to use. also includes 1 extra fin in case of damage, although I think you risk losing the entire bottle and fin attachment before breaking the fin. I'd much prefer a whole extra bottle cap/fin assembly (especially since it's a cheap, mass-produced item), although it just means you have to be more careful with the wind and the environment so you don't. Don't lose your rocket. . The kit uses a very standard 1/8" hose and barb system available at any local hardware store. If you want to lengthen the hose to put more distance between you and the rocket during launch, try a maximum distance of 10-12 feet with objects outside. You can hardly buy a decent Lego set for under $20. I would highly recommend this product to any child over the age of 7 who has a solid interest in rockets, science, physics or is just your typical adventurous boy! five stars solid
