Review on High-Quality Razor Blades for Men's Shave & Hair Removal with Enhanced Results by Pavan Pelletier

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Nice way to choose blades.

I was a Gillette Sensor for Women user for about 25 years before I decided to try a metal safety razor (because I thought it would be more environmentally friendly as the blades can be recycled and because Sensor blades seem to have declined in quality - I've had issues with them for well over a year), so there was quite a learning curve for me with a new type of razor. With that in mind, I've listed the blades in the order I've tried them. I've only used some blades once, others for several weeks, depending on performance. I shaved my armpits daily and my legs about every one to five days. Almost every time I used them, I thoroughly wiped the water off my blades and razors. Here are my notes: Astra Superior Stainless - Seems boring. It takes several passes to get the hair. The skin is easily irritated. Astra Superior Platinum - sharper, uncomfortable for my skin. Shark Super Stainless - sharper, a few cuts, a few cuts. Shark Super Chrome - very sharp, a few snips and a few snips, really cuts hair. -very sharp for a couple of razors, then dull; a few snips, lots of Feather New Hi-Stainless razor burn - lots of glue to keep the blade in the pack; inconspicuous shave Derby Extra - blunt from the start; cut the skin a little, but cut the hair unevenly at best; skin irritation; the blade is difficult to remove from the packaging Bolzano Superinox - stays sharp for a long time; The first blade I tried didn't make me feel like I needed to shave my legs every day. Gillette Platinum - Lots of glue to hold the blade in the packaging. Good for a few shaves, then caused painful abrasions Wilkinson's sword - made a loud crack when inserted into the razor; fairly good shave but not as good as Shark Super Chrome or Bolzano SuperinoxDerby Premium - decent - not fantastic, not terrible - long lasting Sharp Super Platinum - good, sharp first day, then acceptable for a while Tree Platinum - GOOD; Sunrise got bored pretty quickly - the holes in the middle are longer than other leaves; bends in half when razor is tightened enough to keep head from spinning; clean shave, consistent for weeks Lord Platinum - appeared dull, cut and razor burn; Most of the hair was cut off on the first shot. My three favorites were probably Shark Super Chrome, Bolzano Superinox and Voskhod. Whether it's because the experience is finally coming to fruition or because of the actual properties of the blade, Sunrise is the closest I've come to the type of shave I'm used to. I have long thought I made a mistake when I switched to this type of razor. I estimate it's four times heavier than my old razor and the quality of shave I got made me feel like I needed to shave my legs every day which meant I used a lot more shaving cream than usual. and actually produced more waste, so it was LESS greener than the sensor. Now that I've selected the blades that are likely to work best for me, I feel better about how things are going. It took me a long time to get used to it, but I think the razor will suit me.
