The combination of tongs and spatula is a great idea and this product is a great implementation of that idea. I often find that sometimes one spatula just isn't enough to move food around (e.g. lots of small items that are difficult to move on the flat surface of the spatula) and the tongs just don't fit. also do the job. I think these combo kitchen tools are a clever idea, but in execution they become useful in their own way rather than something that would reduce the need for spatulas and tongs. For example, when trying to pick up a steak with large tongs, I slipped the flat green part under the steak and squeezed the tongs to get a good grip. However, because part of the spatula is folded, it will slip when the food product is moved. I've also found that the spatula's thick silicone stays bent when you release the tongs after they've been in the closed position for a while. I think a stiffer spring on the tongs (to have a bit more force to hold the tongs open) and a slightly less stiff material/thickness for the spatula part would be a big improvement on those very minor complaints of mine. I don't think these issues change the usefulness of the pliers because they are still useful. I wouldn't use it in place of anything that only requires a spatula (like flipping pancakes) or just tongs, but they will definitely find their place in the kitchen.
