I've been reading about Panasonic microwaves for many years. They are truly "different" from other microwave ovens as they use inverter technology to modulate (reduce) microwave energy as needed to cook different types and amounts of food. Most microwave ovens have the power either on full power or off. Panasonic microwaves reduce the power steplessly and steplessly from level ten to one. This largely eliminates hot and cold spots in cooked and raw food, ensuring everything is cooked evenly and near to perfection. I use mine for popcorn and it cooks it perfectly with the pre-programmed popcorn button. This appliance is equipped with a sensor that monitors both the heat and moisture given off by the food, so its computer knows exactly where everything is in the cooking process. A list of pre-programmed meals is printed right inside the door, so you don't have to search for instructions to figure out what you're cooking. It has a new keyboard that has real "real" keys with a tactile feel, rather than the plastic overlays found in most microwave ovens that often become uncomfortable as the unit ages. Also, there are only three buttons to enter the cooking time: 10-second button, 1-minute button, and 10-minute button. If you want 20 seconds, press the 10 second button twice, if you want 30 minutes, press the 10 minute button three times, and so on. It took a little getting used to at first, but I really enjoyed it. This frees up space on your keyboard for other very useful presets. Which brings me to my only complaint. The keyboard markings are in VERY small print, and since they're black letters on a silver background, they're pretty hard to read without turning on a bright light. I'm so happy with everything else about this microwave that I've learned to work around this issue. Physically, this block is a lot smaller than my previous block, but it's still big enough for whatever I want to cook. On the plus side, it takes up a lot less space and still cooks at a full 1200 watts, which is the maximum allowable for a household microwave. The interior is finished in anthracite, which unlike white shows almost nothing, so it always looks clean. I have to remind myself to clean the inside because I can't see anything. It also has an internal LED lamp which could have been a bit brighter but illuminates the interior well and should last the life of the microwave. I bought a couple of microwave accessories (available here at Revain), a small grill for making paninis, steaks or hamburgers and even hot dogs, and a roaster that does everything from steaming vegetables to poached eggs to baking muffins , chicken and in this microwave work perfectly. All in all, I would highly recommend this microwave to anyone looking for a compact, high-performance unit that does everything you could imagine a microwave to do, and even things you wouldn't normally do.
