Good Heavy Paper With Teeth

Wonderful notebooks. The paper is thick and has good toothing (texture) for watercolors. The spiral binding is particularly well thought out; Pages stay in place and don't move while you work with them. Also, the pages are unlikely to be accidentally ripped out. Each page is perforated and tears cleanly but not easily. I folded the paper back and forth over the perforations three times, and even then it took considerable force to rip the page out. (The page is torn clean with very small "dots" of perforation along the torn page. It can be cropped. The torn page is 5 3/8" wide but still large enough to fit onto the designated Mounted to fit. For 5.5" x 8.5". Since I'm using mixed media and acrylic on these pages, I primed them. The paper now has very little flex, and I'm sure it will be pressed can by placing a heavy book on top of the notepad and letting it sit overnight In fact, these pages stay flatter than most watercolor papers I've used (and usually tape them down to keep them flat), so I think that You can use this as a travel journal or to paint plein air watercolors without worry.. At first I wasn't sure if the pages had too much zahn (texture) for my work, but when I use these notebooks - and especially after I use plaster on some pages nded - I think the texture is perfect. Not too much for those who like a smooth surface, and not too little for those who want the surface to "grab" the material you're working with. I think it's great value for money, especially for the price. And the size of each pad is perfect for carrying in a purse or backpack, even a fairly small one. I bought them for the home but now I know they are perfect for travel journaling and spontaneous creativity on the go.
