Pros/Cons: Small appliances

I have a sourdough quarantine bug and make a large batch of sourdough waffles to pop in the freezer about once a month. I've searched the internet for an old fashioned waffle maker that makes 4 small square waffles (we don't like the Belgian style) and there is literally only one of these (made by Black and Decker). It was a piece of junk for a number of reasons so I returned it and bought this one. I want to love him, I really love him, but he also has problems. Pros: It's really easy to use. Turn it on and let it preheat for at least 10 minutes. Then use a yellow ice cream scoop (baker's style to scoop cookie dough) and quickly scoop into the center of each well. Close the lid and wait about 3 minutes for the steam to subside. It makes perfectly sized "eggs" like toaster waffles, but the biggest plus is that it has overflow channels on the sides so the batter doesn't spill out if there's too much of it. This part is amazing! Cons: no temperature control. There is no timer. The green light only appears to indicate that the heating element is on or off. It's pointless. The biggest disadvantage: unevenly baked. I intentionally undercooked them a bit for my liking as I will freeze them for toast later, but you can see in the picture how uneven the browning is. All in all I'll leave it at that, but it could be a lot better if they added temperature/darkness control and a timer.
