In my home theater, my projector is quite a distance from the home theater components themselves. I would guess this is true of many home theaters. When I built my home theater a few years ago, HDMI didn't exist, so I didn't have that type of cable running through my walls. Pushing (or pulling) the HDMI cable wasn't really an option as I don't have a spool of HDMI cable and ferrules or crimping tools and I didn't want to spend that much money on this device. However, using CAT 5e cables is a different story. The cable is cheap, can run long distances, and easily squeezes through walls. So I started searching if HDMI signals could be transmitted over CAT 5e cable and my search led me straight to this hardware. I bought it, connected it and Viola! I have an HDMI signal going to my projector. I've had it for a little over a week and the problem only started after I accidentally unplugged the 5V power supply. I lost the video even after I plugged it back in. I ended up having to disconnect the HDMI cables, reconnect the power supply, and then reconnect the HDMI cables. After that everything worked like clockwork. The order seems important as it is even included in their documentation. This is a great way to get rid of long wires from your HDMI cable. I would recommend this to anyone looking for such an option.
