The first thing to consider is what the spring is supposed to be doing for you, by helping to lift the block, hold it open, or both. What is the priority. Then the weight of the object you are lifting and the length of the spring that needs to be in order to function successfully as intended. I started with 15" springs and found them too flimsy. I switched to 20" springs which were a big improvement but could still use a bit more weight. My biggest goal was to help open. Um To get the most benefit I would need much longer springs to allow the lower bracket to be positioned deeper in the pit.This would allow for a more upright jumping position throughout the shot.This would greatly increase the assist when opening the lid from the closed position.
