I have a Dell Inspiron 11 3147 and it has been my favorite laptop for the last 3 years. I lost my old charger but my wife had an XPS 13 with the same charger. Everything was good. Shortly after that, the charger stopped working and gave me an error message saying it couldn't be charged due to the wrong adapter. This allowed me to use the laptop as long as it was always connected to the network, but gave me errors every minute saying it was the wrong adapter. This dance lasted a year and I was fed up with it. So I left my laptop in the corner of my house. I searched all forums to find solution but all methods didn't work. I've also tried other adapters, but they didn't work either. I decided to try on faith and bought this adapter for a long time, and now it charges and there are no errors.
