our little beagle boy doesn't mind being on a leash - in other words, if he really wants to free himself, he can do it with a normal collar. This one is a WINNER because he keeps pulling harder and harder until he's forced to give up, the stubborn little bastard! No plastic buckles/snap parts to break under tension. durable and perfect! The only thing I would like to say is that you check frequently that the part of the buckle that adjusts to the size of your dog's neck does not slip off and the collar becomes too big again. This is due to the overstretching, so I check it every night while we rest. It's easy to adjust while the collar is on, but if left unadjusted I find the collar can become loose enough that it can slip out. I will buy another one when this one gets too ugly or worn out.
