Martingale is great for my large neck and head dog.

I bought a Bluebird martingale collar and leash to match. I love the color for my tan/fawn dog. My hand mix has a large head and neck and Martingale suits her perfectly. I like that there are no clasps, they easily slip over the head and are easily adjustable in size. The quality is excellent, it washes well.

It works as long as it lasts, moderate durability

Longer life than other small Guardian Gear 5/8" martingale collars (which are short-lived, see my review). Aside from that, you get what you pay for. This is an inexpensive collar that will likely last a few months to a few years. The metal clasp in the shape of a figure eight on our last one broke due to our 35lb dog. As it took over a year we decided to try another one.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Upgradeable

Martingdale collars are perfect for my dog as they are soft and comfortable to the touch but help limit leash pulling. However, they don't eliminate him, but that would be too much to expect from a cloth collar. The sling gives me something to hold on to that she can't slip out of if I don't have a leash handy. She's a pretty good chewer and she chewed on a few.

Pros
  • Durable Test Results
Cons
  • Doubtful

Great collar! suitable for cats

I like this collar. This is probably the fifth collar and harness I have bought for my dog. The rest she could take out whenever she wanted. With this collar, he now sits comfortably around his neck and hugs the leash snugly. She can't escape this. She's tried several times, but now that she realizes she can't, she comes when called. I wish I had found this collar in the first place, it would have saved me about a hundred bucks. Would buy again.

Perfect fit for our new puppy

We have just had a puppy (12 weeks old) he is a Beagle Spaniel mix and weighs around 9-10lbs. His neck is around 10-12 feet long and fits perfectly at the smallest size. I thought the puppy would flinch and run from the collar but he's a great boy. Anyway, while the martingale collar is awesome, he couldn't take it off even if he tried, it's like a chinese finger trap, if he tries to pull it back it will tighten and he won't be able to pull it back , if it is So. Great but for any dog so they…

I've always liked soft martingale collars but this one...

I've always liked these types of soft martingale collars but this one isn't for big headed dogs. I bought this for my 8 week old Chesapeake Bay Retriever puppy and while it fits perfectly around my neck I have to adjust the length every time I want to take it off or put it on. and it's not very easy to adjust the length while it's on, so sometimes I worry about having to cut it off! In order for this to work for him, he must have either a large loop or a buckle. As much as I love the color and…

The perfect collar for your cheeky dog!

our little beagle boy doesn't mind being on a leash - in other words, if he really wants to free himself, he can do it with a normal collar. This one is a WINNER because he keeps pulling harder and harder until he's forced to give up, the stubborn little bastard! No plastic buckles/snap parts to break under tension. durable and perfect! The only thing I would like to say is that you check frequently that the part of the buckle that adjusts to the size of your dog's neck does not slip off and…

Jack Russell Owner Fits well for collars

We bought this for our Jack Russell a few months ago and it works great. We've used a choke lead before, and it tended to snag once tightened and wouldn't let go. At the same time, he tenses up when he pulls and weakens when he falls back. It's a lot easier to go with and we don't feel as bad when it pulls that hard as it's a smoother/all around tighter and quicker solution so it's easier to breathe. The reason we chose this choke collar is because Jack Russells tend to have thicker necks…

Great for security but still handy for showering.

I use these collars on all of the dogs that I walk with except very small dogs and those with medical conditions that prevent them from using the collar on walks. Too bad they didn't make the 5lb and under version of this. I've seen other companies do this. A lost dog is a walking nightmare. I know other companies that have lost dogs to loose collars so I never wanted that to happen to me and so far it has never happened. When properly adjusted, it will prevent the dog from slipping off, but…
