Job to digitize old videos. It was easy to install and worked for a few days. However, the cable connection was so weak that if I ever moved the camera, my software would lose contact with my camcorder. Sometimes it even disconnected from the card itself. It was manageable since I just plugged the cable back in; This worked well when the camera was completely still. However, a few days after my transfer project, the recording stopped mid-tape. I unplugged the FireWire cable from the card and when I plugged it back in I heard a clicking sound and a faint smell of burning. My computer turned off and never turned on again. I removed the card and then my computer started working. Wondering if the slot was defective, I reinstalled the card in a different slot. The computer would not turn on. I took out the card and the computer started working again. I bought another card and cable and haven't had any problems since; The new cable doesn't dangle like this one.
