Review on 🌱 Stable Porous Natural Planted Aquarium Substrate: Seachem Flourite Black Clay Gravel - 15.4 lbs by Steven Kile

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great substrate, no need to worry about the haze that most complaints relate to.

Almost all of the bad reviews associated with this product are related to how dirty it gets your water. There is a simple solution. Within 24 hours of filling my new tank with unwashed Flourite Black, the tank was crystal clear. Open bag and pour directly into an empty aquarium. Place all stones, furnishings, decorations and plants before filling. When it's time to fill up the tank, you can't just stick the hose at full blast or dump buckets of water in it. Instead, pour the water from the hose onto a plate, small bowl, or large rock to distribute the water flow and not disturb the substrate. I personally used a pitcher to pour water into a tank. This will take a while, but it's a lot less work than rinsing this stuff in a bucket a few times only to find that the water always ends up cloudy anyway. You'll still have pretty cloudy water, but all you have to do is run your filter for 24 hours and then add the magic secret (although you could probably use it right away. I had to wait for Revain to tell me sent next day). I used a product called Accu-Clear API. You can pick it up at Revain for about $8 for an 8-ounce bottle, but it only takes half a full cap to handle a 50-gallon tank. You can find many other aquarium cleaners from other manufacturers on Revain if you want, but I can only confirm the API as I've used them. In 20 minutes you have a crystal clear aquarium. The attached photos demonstrate its effectiveness.
