Review on CLR CL 4Pro Calcium Remover Gallon by Maria Gray

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Not a miracle cure, but REALLY WORKS! TO UPDATE.

Fu! My circa 1960's porcelain bathtub had a REALLY large, ugly, rusty scale build up from a very slowly dripping faucet. (I have to dig in and replace shims.) I've tried Bartender's Friend, Clorox with bleach, all sorts of food products, even a razor blade and pumice stone and barely touched those things. hardware store to give it a hit. It's not a miracle product, but it works. I repeatedly used the sprayer to apply a good coat of pure CLR to the uncomfortable area, then came back 15 minutes later to scrub with a stiff brush. Each application reduced another layer of calcium, and after six applications I finally declared it was good enough, although more was needed. Be VERY careful, wear rubber gloves and work in a well-ventilated area. I stupidly started with bare hands and today my right forearm looks like I sanded it down. Obviously inhaling CLR fumes is a VERY bad idea. Wear a mask or cloth around your nose when spraying. Also, I've found that CLR works particularly well with chrome fittings, but with some work and patience it will remove even the toughest water deposits on porcelain. Four stars isn't a miracle cure, but it helps in the end. -------------- ------------- -------------- UPDATE: Instead of using an aerosol spray, Try Pour CLR into a bowl, dip in a stiff brush and clean. Do not flush. Wait 15 minutes and repeat the process until everything looks the way you want it. This works much better than using a spray bottle.
