I had never heard of a dummy jack until I came across this Park Tool product when I was looking for something else. I wasn't entirely sure if it would deserve a spot in my shop, but since it was pretty cheap I decided to order it and take a look. This simple little tool has greatly improved the maintenance and cleaning of my bike. I'm a bit obsessed with keeping my drivetrain clean, but prior to the dummy hub I basically left the rear wheel in place and used a variety of methods to clean the chain, cassette, wheels and sprockets . Did a good job but nothing compared to removing the wheel and having full access to all components. Now I find dirt in places I've never seen before. I've also found that by removing the rear wheel, I remove the chain more often and do a deep clean there. The necklace is easy to put on and take off with a pacifier cover. I will be traveling with my bike in a few weeks and plan to remove the wheels so I can transport the bike in an SUV (for safety reasons). A dummy hub would be perfect for this and to protect the inside of the car I use a chain guard. So yes, this simple little tool deserves a spot in my shop. And even more so, I would replace it today if it were gone.
