I apply it to my nails up to the first joint every morning before my hands get anywhere near the water. I have had many problems with eczema on my hands, cracked fingertips and layers of nails. Combined with trimmed nails (and a good lotion and gloves at night) I avoid cracking, I avoid most prescription cortisone and my nails don't look flaky and messy that can't be cleaned. It's not as expensive as it looks because a bottle lasts quite a long time, maybe 3 months for me (only on nails).
