Designed for experienced model makers, this model is not easy to build. The instructions are fairly concise and well presented, but it can be a bit difficult for a beginner model builder. It took me a few hours to assemble and I have some experience in model building. Two reasons for the 3 stars: Firstly, despite the really precision cut gears and other components, I was disappointed that there is no assembly in the design that would replace the . No gears mesh, the wind-up gear drives nothing, and the end product doesn't actually move. Second, and this is more a model maker's problem - too many identical parts; Designers could do better with either marking parts in instructions or color-coding/engraving parts to distinguish them. In general, a decent model; the construction was fun and looks great as a table decoration on my desk. It has a distinctive steampunk vibe.
