I wish I could give 3.5 stars because that would be more accurate. This is good cabling at a good price, but there are a few nuances to keep in mind. I'm writing a summary based on use with off-road lighting since that's one of oz-usa's main product areas (note I'm a fan of many of their flashlights in terms of performance...) tl; dr: - If you are going to use this for offroad lighting and using Weatherpack connectors, go ahead, it will work fine. (Though I hate Weatherpack wiring for reasons unrelated to this cable.) - If you're going to use it for off-road lighting and use Deutsch connectors, I'd look elsewhere. Unfortunately I have no recommendations; I'll try different brands first. - If you're using this for something independent and using something like standard ring or spade crimp connectors I imagine it will work just fine. Pros: - Good price. - Good environmental protection / outer shell. Nice and thick - Sturdy inner insulation on each of the inner wires (although see below for the relevant minus) - Likewise, this is a 14 AWG max width, maybe a little more. (See related disadvantages below.) Disadvantages: - The biggest disadvantage is the actual stranding of the wire: it's a 14 AWG aggregate, maybe a bit larger, but it's made up of *tiny* internal strands. This has several disadvantages: (a) If you're using capped Deutsch plugs, 14 AWG probably won't work - you'll have to cut some wires as so many tiny wires are bundled into a perfect connection. There will most likely not be a circle to paste. (This technically violates the Deutsch/TE specs.) If you're using Weatherpack or crimp connectors, it might not be such a big deal. (b) The tightness of Deutsch connectors is that the contact pin and wire are inserted through the rubber seal to the seated position; it needs some resistance. Because the wires are braided from many smaller wires, they're barely stiff enough to hold the pen; wire buckle, and there is a problem of sticking. 14 AWG stranded wire, which has thicker inner strands, is much easier to insert into a Deutsch connector because the wire's stiffness works for you. Again, if you're using the weatherpack, they seal differently and aren't a problem. But they're also less common on off-road lighting connectors. As mentioned above, the very thick inner wire insulation is also a plus and a minus: being thicker it requires even more force to push it through the Deutsch seal and combined with the thin inner strands the wiring of these style connectors is one royal torment
