I have several of these and use them in different ways. It's made of very strong metal, so it seems very durable. It fits nicely into the speedring attachment point for the various softboxes I have from several different manufacturers and allows for easy rotation in different directions. The second way I use this ring is to attach foldable softboxes designed for the S-type flash mount to my more powerful flashes like the eVOLV and Xplor600 dual head. It works great and is very simple. Simply slide the bare speed ring into the back of the softbox, just as it attaches to the S-mount. This results in a very portable yet powerful setup which I have used successfully for outdoor HSS portraits in bright conditions. I am very happy with this product and have been using it for a couple of years with no problems.
