Review on ⚡ Industrial Electrical Tamper-Resistant Weather-Resistant Receptacle with Indicator by Gerald Reeves

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good looking but tamper proof

Not sure if this is brand specific (I don't think so based on previous purchases of similar items) but the childproofing on these sockets is almost too tight. Basically, you have to apply VERY much force to the connector you are using to insert it, which in turn can cause the pins on the connector to deform or cause other problems. I understand the reasoning (and it could be a UL requirement or something that makes it so difficult), but it's definitely a headache. If you don't have children or have reason to believe that children will have access to the outlets in question, try to find a version without tamper-resistant plastic. a very useful diagram (assuming the builder or previous owner of your home hasn't miswired the existing outlet so it doesn't look like the diagram. :)

Pros
  • Easy to install. The GFCI socket can be easily installed in a switch box in just 10 minutes by following our detailed instructions. The kit includes shatterproof polycarbonate wall panels, screws and full installation instructions.
Cons
  • Cord is shorter than others
