Not sure if this is brand specific (I don't think so based on previous purchases of similar items) but the childproofing on these sockets is almost too tight. Basically, you have to apply VERY much force to the connector you are using to insert it, which in turn can cause the pins on the connector to deform or cause other problems. I understand the reasoning (and it could be a UL requirement or something that makes it so difficult), but it's definitely a headache. If you don't have children or have reason to believe that children will have access to the outlets in question, try to find a version without tamper-resistant plastic. a very useful diagram (assuming the builder or previous owner of your home hasn't miswired the existing outlet so it doesn't look like the diagram. :)
