Great for hard to reach places

I usually use regular straight stops installed in the skirting board (spring type so they don't split the board when stepped on). However, there are some tricky spots in my house where they don't work and I need another option. For example, a door swings open into an adjacent door, or a door opens into a wall that is much shorter than the door, and therefore a straight stop will prevent the door from opening wide enough. The previous owner used stops on the hinges but they don't hold doors very well and can damage doors and trim, especially if small children push them too hard and if the door has a hollow core. I bet most homes have at least one or two spots where these stops can help keep doors from bumping into each other and getting damaged. I could fit them into either the top of the door frame of the adjacent door or in the ledge of the baseboard just around the corner from the adjacent short wall. I don't think I've ever installed them on the floor as intended, but they will work fine as long as the gap under the door isn't too big. They are small and therefore suitable for living areas. They provide a permanent and non-damaging method of stopping doors. They're also easy to install, and their through-bolt design allows them to be pushed in firmly or pointed in any direction. They look relatively clean/tidy for a doorstop. I wish they were in more than 2 colors but you could probably color if needed. I'm surprised they're so hard to find because they work so well. Should be on the shelf in every hardware store, but I had to order it.

Pros
  • Easy to install
Cons
  • Can I add something
