I needed a new player to replace my old ION USBTT player which was causing a terrible humming noise that I couldn't figure out what was causing it. Firstly I like the Gemini TT-1100USB player, it looks good and works well. Setup was easy, especially if you've worked with turntables before and know how to set up a counterbalance for balance and anti-skating adjustments. The test recordings I've made so far sound good, and since I already have the Audacity, EZ Vinyl Converter, and Roxio loaded, I didn't need to run the Audacity CD that came with the unit. The reason I can't give it four or even five stars is because I found that it doesn't have a pass-through ribbon circuit, which is what I thought when I ordered it. It's a shame for me as this feature was part of the old ION player and I was surprised Gemini didn't have it. I still have a lot of tape cassettes and a lot of cassettes that I'd like to convert to digital and now I'm playing around with this one. I don't know what to do and I don't want to return Gemini as everything is set up and working now. In addition, such a trifle as "Target Light" had to be included in the player's package. I mean how much can it cost that Gemini can't make it part of the package? If you just want to convert vinyl to digital, I have no hesitation in recommending this player. But if you have cassettes that you also want to convert then I would advise you to keep looking as you will be disappointed with this missing part of the device. Conclusion: Advantages:!. Easy to set up 2. The sound is very good even with the included pickup. I didn't feel the need to upgrade to a higher quality cartridge. Cons: 1. No pass-through audio for analog tapes2. The kit does not include "Target Light".
