Review on Fluidmaster 7530P8 Universal Wax-Free Toilet Seal - Better Than Wax Toilet Bowl Gasket, Fits Any Drain by Kobby Fairchild

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Not for all toilet/flange combinations.

Realizing that all wax seals will eventually fail, I researched alternatives and bought a Danco seal and this Fluidmaster rubber seal in case either one didn't work properly. The toilet it was intended to be used with is about a year old and belongs to the standard American "mainstream" family. The floor is tiled and level. The toilet flange is the newest PVC flange that Oatey makes, is "above the floor" and flush. The packaging of this Fluidmaster seal says it "FITS ANY FLANGE". sit flush with the floor. It just rocked back and forth and back and forth. There were no mistakes during installation, as the toilet was moved several times so that it "fits" properly on the gasket. There just wasn't enough space between the outlet at the bottom of the toilet and the top of the flange for this gasket to fit. Do you know what worked? Harvey's cheap old wax ring. I prepared and lowered the toilet for the first time and flushed the toilet, now it sits. This Fluidmaster gasket might work for some toilet and flange height combinations, but if you want to save yourself some heartache, buy good ol' wax and have it on hand. Call if you're in the same predicament as me. By the way, I have over 30 years of plumbing experience, so please don't take what I say with a lot of grains of salt. I speak from great experience. Good luck with your project.
