This was our first cane furniture project. We are working on a very large return table. I did all the calculations and then started ordering all the pipes and fittings I needed. As we were new to this area I didn't know who to order from. We got terrible things from GOOVI. They were thin and covered with a black, almost rusty coating. I returned all the details except for the decor and TJ pipes. Yes, they all need to be cleaned. But we've never included an article like this reviewer showing dirty black hands. Excluding GOOVI parts. Cleaning is not something that can be avoided. We simply placed a large Sterilite tub in our tub and filled it with very hot water and Dawn detergent. Let them soak for about 15 minutes. (Make sure they are completely submerged in water. If they get wet and exposed to air they will rust.) We then used a rag and washed each piece. Then we rinsed each piece with very hot water, wiped dry and placed on towels until completely dry. We then used Minwax Dry Paste Wax to protect every detail. We ordered natural wood worktops from Ikea for the desk and back. My husband is 6ft 5in and has 3 monitors on his desk. He now has a nice oversized table (99.5" x 42") and back panel (32" x 25.5") to match his height. The tubular design was perfect for such a large and heavy desk.
