Leaking oil adapter problem solved

A robustly designed and built solution to a common 7.3L engine lift problem that works with either version of the 7.3L adapter position. Installation was relatively easy (don't forget to use red thread sealant before installing the bolt). It took me a while to align the screw to start screwing it in. Just take your time and it will fit. The only reason this product doesn't get 5 stars is because of the price. I've used three products to solve this problem and this would be my top choice if it was under $200. At $300+, I wouldn't recommend using it unless you've tossed the flange and have no other choice. If so, this product is a 5-star lifesaver. Best Solutions: Diesel O-rings - (Best solution, full kit including brush holder that keeps flange from falling into sump, more work but only $64 for diesel rings. .com) Diesel Only - (Great product, works as described, saves if the flange falls into the oil pan, well built, easy installation, works on both 7.3 liter versions, expensive but not as expensive as towing the engine which I think is the only other option , after the flange is lowered into the oil pan) 73 Dipstick - (If you want to pay $90, dip your flange in a sump, and then use a pure diesel adapter to save day after truck-free days, this is the one product choice for you.)

Pros
  • 7.3 Diesel Power Stroke Only Dipstick Repair Kit Replace a leaking dipstick adapter without having to pull out the engine and lower the oil pan. The dipstick repair kit can be installed in the driveway for permanent repairs. As 7.3 liter trucks get older, oil pan leaks become more common. One of the most common causes of oil pan leaks is the factory dipstick adapter on the side of the oil pan. We've seen a number of interesting repairs to the stock probe adapter, mostly with some sort of sealant like silicone... and some even with epoxies like JBWeld. We also saw the dipstick adapter nut tightened to the point that the adapter warped in the sump (so it would never close again, even with a new o-ring). Whether you have an oil leak now or are building a new engine and don't want to worry about it in the future, this Oil Dipstick Adapter Repair Kit is the once and for all solution! This kit completely eliminates the stock dipstick adapter and replaces it with a new machined aluminum adapter with double o-ring OUTSIDE the oil pan. This kit can be installed while the oil pan is still on the engine and the engine is still in the truck. Best of all, should the o-rings in this kit ever leak, this adapter can be quickly and easily removed and reinstalled with new o-rings...all from the outside of the oil pan!
