Review on 🔆 Aprilaire 80 Replacement Canister for Models 800 and 865 Steam Humidifiers - Pack of 1, Silver - High Performance Solution for Optimal Indoor Air Quality by Autumn Davis

I have confirmed to my local Trane dealer that the Trane EHUM800 steam humidifier is essentially a relabeled Aprilaire 800 unit and this replacement canister will work (which it did). I used it in a high desert area (5500 feet) to steam a one story 1900 square foot house in winter. I let the device run for 5-6 hours in the evening. Medium hard water. The canister lasted 4 months before requiring replacement. I noticed that hydration decreased a few weeks before the red light came on. I turned off the humidifier and drained it completely and let it cool down (the night before) as it wouldn't work with the red light anyway. Replacing the block took 10-15 minutes. The hardest part was taking the o-ring off and also loosening the hose clamp on top of the unit (steam hose) as the installer somehow rotated the clamp 90 degrees from the front of the unit where the plate comes loose (of course I used this for future removals fixed). I wish the canister would last the entire heating/humidifying season. I'm looking at how to use the cleaning process if I can't wait for the block to fully cure of mineral deposits and if I can remove it, soak it in a vinegar solution for a few hours, rinse and continue using. I will examine this option next year. It appears that when the red light comes on the device is quite heavily encrusted with mineral deposits and may be more difficult to clean. I figured I could put it in a bucket and soak it in a vinegar solution. Any thoughts anyone might have on this, or if they did, would be appreciated. I appreciate them for a lower price than what the dealer is asking, but changing them twice in the winter is quite expensive. Aprilaire had to design it to be flushed regularly to get rid of deposits, or provide a way to clean it so it could be used for at least a couple of years or more before replacing it.
