Review on πŸ”© Universal Aluminum Oil Catch Can Reservoir Tank in Baffled Black Finish by Ruien Polish by Bryan Murphy

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great price for a good product.

Bad at first, some reviews say things stink out of the box. I was sure it was overkill. I was wrong. This thing stinks. Once you get over the smell, threaded finishes fit very well. An O-ring must be installed on the dipstick. The hose connectors have a straight thread and fit well on the can. I'll probably use sealant to make sure it doesn't leak. The kit contains two sets of hose fittings which should cover the vast majority of installations. The inlet filter is actually in two parts, so a screen is screwed into the lid, filter material is added and then another filter is screwed on. Excellent work. The hose sucks, better than pig intestines. Just leave it in the box and buy a good hose, chances are it won't be long enough for your application anyway. Update 04/27/2018 As I suspected, there is a problem with the sealing of the fittings. Replaced o-rings with quality o-rings and the seal is much better. Installation can be a real pain. If I were to do it again I would probably use a zip tie instead of a mount. Update April 7, 2018: Drove 150km on and off road this weekend. I was amazed at how much oil was in the jar. Scavenging on this engine is very minimal, but lubrication should be excellent. The hose to the inlet was dry so it handles the disconnect very well. I use stainless steel cleaning material as the filter medium. Available in the Wally world in the food section. Update 4/18/2019 This continues to work fine. If I have a complaint I would happily buy a larger one. For winter driving, it must be emptied every 600 miles. It's amazing how much water condenses inside an engine during a typical Montana winter.
