I bought the Nikon Coolpix as a small camera to carry around in my backpack. When it arrived I was a little disappointed with the quality, it just seemed "cheap" but I think you get what you pay for, I was expecting something more durable. The camera takes good pictures, but very slowly. Also, after 6 months the lens became stuck and after the camera was sent back to Nikon's warranty department for repair they stated it was impact damage and therefore not covered. Which is completely wrong, the camera has always been stored in a hard case and has never been dropped. I was holding the camera when the lens jammed when turning it off. If you don't want to waste money I would stay away from Nikon and their Coolpix cameras. And never trust their guarantee.
