Absolutely normal; incomplete

Before buying this set I bought a wood repair marker and a colored pencil. I found them to be pretty good, but not ideal for deeper repairs. The markers did a great job on small, thin scratches, while the crayons were good for medium scratches but not good for dents, dents, chips, or large scratches. I wasn't exactly sure which set it was, but I gave it a try based on the high reviews. If you're not sure, it's basically a set of several tubes of paint and a tube of wood spatula. Wood putty is designed for large and deep repairs, while paints are designed for minor repairs and are applied over wood putty when needed. I had a hard time with wood putty because it was too dry. It is not very good. I mixed everything well as instructed in the instructions. I haven't found putty any better or easier to use than wood putty, which you can buy in a large container from a large store for a fairly low price. Although the colors were great. They are thick enough for fairly deep scratches, dents and chips. Much better than the crayons in another wood repair kit I've bought. Also, there is plenty of paint in each tube to make enough for repairs. I am very happy with the colors. However, for very thin, flat scratches, I prefer marker over paint. The colors are too thick for this type of scratch where you don't have to fill anything, just smooth the color. I'm still happy with the kit, but it seems a bit odd to sell it as a complete wood repair kit but without markers.
