I bought this product for a reason other than to hold my dog. We recently found a kitten in the yard but we already have our own adult cats, 1 male and 1 female. Our kitty loves the kitty and loves to play with her so much, but our kitty. Well, she's not a fan of hers at all and keeps trying to attack her. We are trying our best with our cat to try and get along with her but for now we have to keep the kitten in our guest room. It's a big room with lots of cat stuff but we wanted to keep trying to get our adult cat used to the kitten by seeing and smelling them and that's when I saw this product. If you're dealing with a tiny kitten, you'll need to make sure the hole isn't too big, let alone closed enough that your adult cat can't squeeze through and possibly attack. As you can see, we did everything a little differently than in the instructions. First we had to tighten the strap and then put on a tie to keep it from loosening. We then fitted the latch portion of the lock to the outside door frame and then attached the strap to the back of the bedroom door and it works great. We had to do this to make the hole smaller as even if the strap was as small as possible it would still be too big if we put it on the front of the door. The only possible problem with this is if you want the door to be closed the strap can get caught, but then we just fasten it where the tie is and everything is fine. Now that we wanted the opening to be smaller we can't use a white doorstop that wraps around the door, but this was an easy fix, we just placed the doorstop under the door from the outside so it wouldn't accidentally getting closed. I am very impressed with this product and find it works just as advertised, we just thought outside the box for our needs. This is a product I would recommend to others. And for those wondering what kind of poor kitten stays in a room all day, know that we rotate locations daily to allow the kitty to roam and play around the house. She also plays a lot in the room with our adult cat, he is so gentle with her, like dad.
