This is a follow-up to an earlier review given shortly after the product was received. DO NOT buy this item! I washed this item with soap and water and dried it with a cotton towel. I filled it with cold tap water and let it sit for 24 hours as recommended. When I went to pour a glass of water, I found a significant amount of "junk" at the bottom of the pitcher. Since it was covered with a paper towel and secured with a rubber band while sitting, I could deduce the shards came from inside the jar. I poured out the water and repeated the "sitting" process throughout the day. or two. When I checked the smell and taste of the water it didn't seem like something I needed in my body. So I poured out the water and let the pitcher dry. A few days later I saw dark spots inside the glass which turned out to be the base metal to which the copper plate was no longer adhering. This glass is beautiful but essentially rubbish. Who knows what metal in this item will end up in your water. NEVER AGAIN - not from this seller! John
