Not worth the hassle

First of all this is a decent set for the price. For some, that might be enough to buy it. But due to installation issues, I would have spent the extra $10-20 elsewhere. First the strange packaging. I suppose that's one of the reasons they can sell cheaper. The parts came in a shipping box, wrapped in bubble wrap, with fasteners. I have installed several of these kits and they usually come in either a retail box or box. There is no such thing here. There's nothing wrong with that, but I haven't seen it. But let's get to the real problems. The mounting hardware for this set is just terrible. As I said, I have installed several of these kits. All of the brackets I've installed had a hole in the middle. This makes sense as it centers the mount and that's honestly all it takes. These brackets are smaller than what I've seen and have 2 holes. If you don't secure both holes, the mount will tend to move to one side or the other. Which brings me to the HUGE problem with that. I reused a hole from an old bracket I had removed that already had a drywall anchor in it. Then insert another screw through the top. I didn't put another drywall anchor in the top hole because the staples are so small you end up with 2 anchors very close together on top of each other. It does not make sense. When I started mounting the hardware to the brackets, the set screw missed the bracket and just pushed it away from the wall. This happened on both sides of the towel rail. I ended up making some small wedges out of the plastic I had lying around to knock out the bottom of the bracket a bit to allow the set screw to go past the bracket. This was the only way to attach the bracket to the wall and attach the device to the bracket. Attached is a picture for reference. I didn't have this problem with my towel, but when I tried to mount the toilet paper holder, the same thing happened on one side too! It's just an awful design and I've never seen anything like it in my life. The icing on the cake is that one part isn't perfect. I've also attached a photo of him. It has a flat spot on a bent bracket and the bronze isn't as smooth as the others. Of course it's on top too, and the light captures a flat spot perfectly. The towel rail and the toilet paper holders are identical. So I decided to put toilet paper to the side. The only way to hide the flat spot is to turn it upside down, but then you'll see the set screw. Last note. This set is much closer to black than bronze. I installed another set in my master bathroom that is much more bronzed. My only regret is that I didn't purchase the same set for a replacement bath. I could send it back but I was already interested in having everything torn up. The towel rail itself is definitely black if you look at the picture. I give 2 stars because it is good value for money. I had to pay an extra $10 for the same set I bought for the Master. live and learn.
