Review on Liftmaster 41C4220A Chamberlain Craftsman LiftMaster by David Finley

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Bought a set +1 year ago. . . installed, works great! ATTENTION: Adjust the doorstop!

Our Liftmaster door closer was installed when the house was built 15 years ago and has worked well. Our garage door had a broken coil spring and I called and had the springs properly replaced. While they were there I asked if they had replaced the "stretched" door opening chains. They looked at the opener and said they see it all the time but the shaft on the Liftmaster opener wears out. They also pointed out that this often happens because the opener limit setting was set so there was too much downforce. on the door when it's closed. If the Liftmaster is set to move down too much, the drive shaft and gears will become stressed and worn. . . . after they left i ordered this repair kit and also replaced the old flattened seal on the underside of the garage door. Very easy. . , and most hardware stores have them. When the door opener repair kit arrived I installed it according to the video (also found some steps have workarounds for less disassembly). After installing the kit, two limit switches need to be set. .One of them is how far the door opens. The other is how far he PUSH the door when it's closed. This is the important part. . . Adjust the bottom limit switch (not down) to ONLY slightly compress the door seal (get a new one) at the bottom of the garage door. If you haven't bothered to set the bottom limit switch properly. . Every time the door is closed, it can stress the strike shaft and gears, causing the door to push too hard against the concrete floor. A NOTICE. . It's also a good idea to check the low limit switch at least once a year as it can fail over time.
