The concept here is really great. Unfolded it's the perfect ramp for loading and unloading our large 100lb lab onto the back of our SUV. When folded, it slides easily in the back. It looks durable and well made. The problem lies in the design. The ramp is long when unfolded, so you tend to grab it in the middle when folding it down. Trouble is, if you're not careful, this thing can slam, and it's heavy enough to break all your fingers. So it's pretty impractical to close cleanly. I'm not an engineer so I don't know the best way to solve this problem, but two things come to mind: 1) Just add a grip strap on all 4 edges, which will give you some gripping space that doesn't put your fingers at risk. 2) Change the edges/bottom to be directional so your finger doesn't get hurt when it's in the channel and REALLY slams. Your hand would naturally take over the channels, which would make it much safer.
