Review on Sony DVP-NS715P DVD Player with Progressive-Scan Technology by Jake Larson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great DVD player for use with HDTV

I purchased this DVD player from a local seller in 2001 and was very impressed with the picture quality it displayed on my 36 inch Wega HD TV. There are absolutely no scan lines in the video. that I can see at a reasonable distance from the HDTV. The audio outputs allow you to have either an optical (my preference) or a coaxial digital output. The player also offers a switch on the back to choose progressive, interlaced or automatic video signal selection. The remote control is very easy to use and has all the features you could ever need to control even the most feature rich DVDs. The remote control makes it possible They also allow you to control any TV, especially Sony's are missing some key, more sophisticated features (enough that you need to have your HDTV remote on your coffee table "just in case". An excellent player in every way, and with the price currently being less than half what I paid for it (but also HDTV - oh the price for cu. cutting-edge technology obsolete in a year) it's getting economical too . After all, it was also one of the few DVD players Sony made at the time with MP3 playback capability (perhaps Sony has toned down its anti-MP3 stance) as well as VCD. I use both regularly. If you are looking for a multi disc player I would recommend the Denon 5 disc carousel. I am currently using this DVD player on my large TV in the living room.
