everything else in the computer is passively cooled, there is no hdd, so the system unit itself is silent. but passive cooling does not cope with the processor, so i installed this cooler. quite quiet. somewhere from 600 rpm i begin to hear it, at 1000 it is still acceptable, at 1200 it is already loud. i set the maximum speed to 1000. on my processor with tdp 77w, the temperature is: 1000 rpm max. load = 53 degrees, audible 400 rpm normal load = 40 degrees, inaudible full load is rare, so its acceptable to me for a silent computer.
