This is my second dehydrator that I own. I like it for the timer and temperature features (and auto shut off!). My first dehydrator didn't have these things, so I always had to be home to turn it off when the time came. This dehydrator is very easy to set the time and temperature and comes with an easy to read instruction manual. I followed the instructions which said to run the dehydrator for 30 minutes with no objects the first time and it smelled a bit like it should; However, the next time I ran it and actually dried bananas for 12 hours, the smell it gave off was much more noticeable (and I think it wasn't bananas). The third time it didn't smell anymore. I really like this dehydrator. I do have to be careful of my autistic son touching the front buttons and turning it on though, so I have to make sure I unplug it when I notice it's dry. It's not a problem for me, but I know some people don't buy products that aren't made in their country, so I'll tell you all that the packaging says it's made in China.
